ISLAMIC, Anatolia & al-Jazira (Post-Seljuk). Artuqids (Mardin). Husam al-Din Yuluq Arslan, AH 580-597 / AD 1184-1200. Dirham (Bronze, 34 mm, 14.53 g, 7 h), after AH 585 = AD 1189/90. Draped and crowned bust in left field facing, head turned slightly to right, looking at diademed Roman style head to left; above, 'Husam al-Din, Malik Diyarbakr' in Kufic. Rev. In inner field, 'al-Malik al Nasir / Salah al-Din / Muhiyy dawla / Amir al-Mu'minin'; in outer margin, Yusuf ibn Ayyub'; all in Kufic. Spengler & Sayles 34. Somewhat smoothed, otherwise, very fine.
